This stems from many people being uneducated about eating disorders and also the fact that every person with an eating disorder has a different experience.The road to recovery from an eating disorder starts with admitting you have a problem. Just as anyone can develop an eating disorder, so too, anyone can get better. However, overcoming an eating disorder is about more than giving up unhealthy eating behaviors. This could be a close friend or family member or a youth leader, teacher, or school counselor you trust. Or you may be more comfortable confiding in a therapist or doctor. Four years ago I acknowledged and accepted that I needed to pause everything in my life to focus on my mental health. I was struggling with anorexia and it had taken me a while to admit that. I was no longer the best version of myself, but I wanted to be, and I was determined to bring her back. My senior year of college started out fine. I celebrated my 21st birthday with the help of some friends, I was head over heels for my first boyfriend, and I lived in a house with some of my sorority sisters.
